Textfree lets iPhone and iPod touch owners send free text messages to any US mobile phone. There are no charges for replies that come back through Textfree either.
Absolutely! Textfree lets you send texts and recieve replies for free. There are two versions:
Textfree Lite has ads and you'll have a daily message limit (15 per day for now...Hey it's free!) on the number of messages you can send. Please note that messages received don't count towards your 15 per day limit.
Textfree Unlimited is a paid version that removes the daily message limits and eliminates the ads.
Note, your friends that are not on Textfree will still pay for the text messages that they send and receive.
To send a text message using Textfree, simply open up the Textfree app and tap on the Create New Message icon in the upper right hand corner. You can then enter the phone number of the person you want to text or select from you contact list.
You can send a text message to just about any carrier in the US. This means AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, Virgin Mobile, US Cellular, Cellular One/Dobson, Boost Mobile, Metro PCS, Unicel, Sun Com Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, Cellular South, Tracfone, NTELOS, Cricket Wireless, Centennial Wireless, Midwest Wireless, Surewest, Alaska Digitel, Northcoast PCS, YC, ACS Wireless, and Advantage Cellular.
If you don't see a carrier here that you would like to have listed, please send a text message from your mobile phone to support@pinger.com. Please include your mobile number and your carrier.
Your friends can send you a text message by replying to any text message that you sent from Textfree. Please note that if people send a new message to your mobile number without replying to a message you sent from Textfree, the message will come through as a normal text and carrier charges may apply.
Avoid
unnecessary texting costs for both you and your friends, have your
friends install Textfree on their
iPhones and iPod Touch's too and register your number with the Textfree
to Textfree option.
Turn on text message notification in the options screen. By adding your email address and turning this feature on, you will be notified of a new text message whenever you are outside of the Textfree app or your screen is off. To turn this on, tap the Options button at the top of the Textfree Inbox and turn Notification on. Verify your email address and you are all set. Don't worry about SPAM , because we hate SPAM too and will protect your information.
You can send text to other Textfree users for true 2 way free text messaging by enabling the Textfree to Textfree option in the options screen. To get to the options screen, tap on Options from the Textfree Inbox.
By purchasing Textfree Unlimited you do away with the ads and
the
daily messaging limits. It's a small price to pay for a ton
of
freedom.

Picfree works a lot like the native camera application, only
you can send pics directly to phones too! Simply take a pic
(iPhone only) or use a photo from the Photo Library, then send that
picture to any US mobile phone via MMS or even to an email.
Hey, we’re the makers of Textfree. Of course, sending pictures is free. Send as many pictures as your little trigger finger can handle*. When your friend receives your message, it will come out of his or her normal messaging plan
back to topYes,
Picfree really does send MMS—when the recipient’s
phone can handle it. That means your picture message goes
directly to your friend’s MMS supported phone.
Since some phones (including iPhone) can’t receive a real MMS/Picture message, use the ‘send as text with a link to pic’ option. Your friend’ll get a normal text message with a link to the picture.
back to topPicfree
is only for SENDING picture messages. Replies to messages you
send will go to your email address. There is no way to
receive MMS on the iPhone or iPod touch right now.
You
betcha! Describe your picture to your heart’s
content or let the picture speak for itself with no text at all.
Definitely. There isn’t a camera on an iPod touch, but you can use any photo from your Photo Library.
