Pinger Phone works with an IPod touch if you have a Wi-Fi connection and are connected to it. You will need a mobile phone to get started, as you will have to enter a confirmation code for sign up. Once signed up, you will be able to view your friends and Mail, IM and send them messages throught MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. You won't be able to text them because you don't have a phone.
If you inadvertantly connected the wrong person to a newsfeed:
Open up your iPhone contacts app, and select the contact to open their contact info. Here you will find a "special" email address that starts with "PINGER_LINK" Simply remove this special email address and you will be back to normal.
With Pinger Phone, you can choose to have your messages sent via text message if you are not in Pinger Phone. To turn on "Notify via text msg" on Pinger phone, select Accounts from the Friend News page. Tap "OFF" next to "Notify via text msg" to turn text message notification "ON".
You can link to a contact for easy communication by clicking on the "link to contact" link via the Pinger Menu
If you are an iPod touch user, you can send text messages to your friends mobile phones and recieve replies using Pinger Phone. As long as you have their mobile phone number in your contact list, you can send them text messages using the IM tab in Pinger Phone. All text replies from them will come into your IM window as long as you are in the Pinger Phone app. Use this IM-to-mobile functionality to avoid paying for text messages you send and replies you recieve. Note, your friends that are not on Pinger Phone will be charged for text messages they send and receive.
To receive your confirmation code, you need to be with a supported carrier and have text messaging enabled on your phone. Pinger generally delivers text messages to your carrier instantly. If you are on a supported carrier and still haven't received your confirmation code, it's possible that your mobile carrier has lost the message or iis delivering it slowly. You can have another confirmation code sent by tapping "Back" from the confirmation screen and then tapping "Next" again.
